Visvim continues themes established over the past year for their Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The collection is styled with plenty of layering and tons of accessories, a continuation on the aesthetics of their Spring/Summer 2013. Some key items that return in fine form are the FBT and knit cowichan. I also have to give a shoutout to the amazing shearling coats in this lookbook. While this collection doesn’t break new ground for Visvim, it does re-iterate some of the recent strengths of the brand and offers a look at some staple investment pieces that can be worn for years to come.

Uniform Experiment FW13 Video
Uniform Experiment makes really really good versions of wardrobe staples. The Japanese label might not revolutionize the game, but you can always expect them elevate basics such as oxfords, cable-knit sweaters and casual blazers to the next level. The narrative of the video is pretty simple, imagine an guys night out minus the Jager bombs. … Read more
Undercover FW13 ANATOMICOUTURE Editorial
Honeyee released this smoke-filled editorial featuring select looks from the Undercover FW13 collection which we previously posted HERE. I get a Robert Smith vibe off the styling here. It’s always nice when collections are more displayed a bit more creatively through editorials as opposed to look books Standout pieces are the ribcage sweater/cardigan combo, the plaid wool suit and the red wool overcoat. If you’re having a depressing 2013, picking up some pieces from UC Fall/Winter 2013 should make you feel a bit better about yourself just be ready to shell out.

The Soloist FW13 Editorial in Style Zeitgeist Magazine Volume 4
So you’ve seen the video and lookbook for The Soloist F/W 2013 collection ‘AMRCN DANDIES” . In this latest effort Style Zeitgeist magazine uses select pieces from the collection for an editorial from Issue 4 of the NY based publication. P.A.M. FW13 Lookbook
Australian label P.A.M. (Perks & Mini) shows off it’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection. To me the brand has always embodied a quirky and elevated streetwear feel. The looks here are a bit slouchy, and layered sensibly. The pants in the collection definitely look like they have an excellent cut; straight-leg but with a slight taper. Gradients, patterns, and contrasting patterns give this collection a touch the necessary details to have it standout in the marketplace. This is definitely some excellent gear to flex on the first day of a college fall semester.

soe FW13 Collection
Japanese designer Soichiro Ito created this Fall/Winter 2013 collection that modernizes the collegiate look. The collection balances traditional menswear elements with a vibrant youthful edge. The heavy usage of grey and the abundance of looks with cropped trousers definitely brings to mind Thom Browne. It seems that college wear has made a strong comeback in 2013 and designers are pulling from all aspects of college culture , from sportswear to class uniforms.

banal chic bizzare FW13
It seems the best men’s brands from Tokyo just keep coming up increasingly ridiculous names. In this mountaineering inspired collection from Banal chic bizzarre I see a slight Raf Simons influence. The bright colors are a welcome departure from the more muted tones most men’s brands choose for fall/winter collections. The futurist vibe is toned down through the outerwear which appropriates visual/styling elements from 90s American hiking brands such as Patagonia. The designs in the collection appear insanely high quality and functional, but definitely not boring. This is gear worthy of Metal Gear Solid boss levels. That varsity jacket looks pretty perfect for the guy who wants a standout piece that isn’t completely over the top.

Whiz Limited FW13 Collection
Whiz Limited showed this strong Fall/Winter 2013 collection at Tokyo Fashion Week. I only became aware of the brand last season but they have existed for over a decade now. Brand founder Hiroaki Shitano has assembled a collection that is colorful, relevant and wearable. The collection is largely comprised of shades of blues, reds and blacks. The stark colors are balanced out by an array of patterns : stripes, checkers and plaids. All the core items a guy could want are here and done in style: Knits, Waterproof shell,s MA-1 bombers, Harrington Jackets, and blazers, wool overcoats. There are pieces for the attention-seekers amongst us but also there are plenty of understated pieces for those who prefer to stay low key. This is a collection I’ll be looking at again and again, and coveting once it hits stores.

Highland FW13 Presentation
Do you remember smoking weed, drinking beer, eating Doritos and playing N64 in your high school friend’s basement? Highland presented guests of their FW13 collection with an experience that was quite similar to those carefree days of youth. The set was littered with bongs, snacks, a PBR beer pyramid and shag carpeting and admist the chaos were models donning the collection of jackets, sweaters, branded t-shirts and jeans. The interactive presentation was a reflection of the brand’s approach, smartly and subversively using the wasteland of American suburbia as a platform for refined streetwear. While Highland make not be a household name in the US menswear market yet, this presentation exemplified how the brand is quickly building steady buzz in New York.
